Hi! I am Carly, one of the proud co-owners of Uptown Speech Therapy. I am thrilled to be working alongside Sarah to bring speech services to our hometown and build a community of confident and supportive caregivers. I can’t wait to chat with you more!
Work Experience
I completed my undergraduate and graduate studies at Pitt. Throughout school, I had developed a passion for pre-school and school-age children through working as a research assistant on grants through the Department of Education for literacy and writing intervention. While I lived in Washington, DC, I worked in a private special education school for students with learning differences that focused intensively on reading intervention. For almost the last ten years in Pittsburgh, I have continued to work with the school-age population in school districts and special education schools in Allegheny County while also working in an outpatient pediatric setting. My areas of expertise include pre-school language development, articulation, auditory comprehension, academic and functional vocabulary, executive functioning, social skills, and literacy-based interventions. My therapy style is immersive and incorporates the child’s lifestyle so our sessions are child-led, fun, and engaging.
A Bit More About Me
I reside in Mt. Lebanon with my husband, Eric, our son, Davy, and our dog, Lola. We enjoy visiting family and friends in my husband’s hometown of Boston. Though I don’t play soccer anymore, I’m often strolling around town as I grab croissants at La Gourmandine, take Lola to Bird Park, or eat my way through the Strip District. You’ll likely bump into me at Barre or Yoga.
