Hello! I am Sarah, proud co-owner of Uptown Speech Therapy! My goal for Uptown Speech Therapy is not to simply provide skilled intervention, but to create a community for parents, caregivers, children, and therapists to learn, collaborate and support one another. Welcome! I am so excited to introduce myself!
Work Experience
I began my career as a speech pathologist in Baltimore, MD when I graduated from Loyola University with a Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Over the past 10 years I have had the unique experience of treating children and adults across a variety of settings, including hospitals, private practices and home-based, in Baltimore, Columbus, Seattle, Charlotte, and now Pittsburgh. My areas of expertise include early language development, articulation, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), aphasia, dysphagia and brain injuries. My therapy approach is high energy, fun, engaging, and collaborative, as I feel therapy is most successful through a team approach.
A Bit More About Me
I recently moved back to Pittsburgh with my husband, Tommy, to raise our children in our hometown of Mt. Lebanon. I am Mom to Winnie, Etta, and Marlow. Since becoming a mom, I feel I relate and understand the wants, needs, and feelings of parents better than ever which has led to a shift in my therapy approach and is the inspiration for starting Uptown Speech Therapy! When I am not at a playground with my girls, you can find me at home riding on my Peloton bike, walking my dog, Scout, or learning to play tennis.
